Bringing physiology into
everyday life.

OGPhysiologist is a physiology-led platform connecting
research, education, and public engagement.

We explore how the human body works, translate science into accessible
ideas, and create opportunities for people to engage with physiology
beyond textbooks and laboratories.

Physiology is
everywhere.

Physiology is everywhere — in our genes, our immune
responses, our body clocks, our environment and the
way our bodies adapt every day.

OGPhysiologist takes that science beyond traditional academic spaces.

01

We research.

We investigate questions in physiology and
human health, from molecular mechanisms
and genetics to inflammation and disease.

02

We
communicate.

We make scientific concepts and research
accessible through articles, stories and
engaging science communication.

01

We engage.

We bring science to wider audiences
through public engagement, educational
activities, storytelling and citizen science.

Research. Understand. Share. Engage.

Research

Understanding why
bodies respond differently

Our genes, immune responses, environment and behaviour interact in complex ways to influence how the body responds in health and disease. Research connected with OGPhysiologist explores these relationships, from molecular physiology and genetics to inflammation and host defence.

Featured

Genetics, Inflammation &
Periodontitis

Why do some people develop more severe inflammatory disease than others, even when exposed to similar environmental risks?

Science communication

Making science
easier to explore

Through articles, stories and reflections, OGPhysiologist explores the science of the
human body and the ways physiology connects with health, identity and everyday life.

Seasons of Change: how
daylight shapes us

How do changing daylight hours across the seasons influence the way we
sleep, feel and move? A Royal Society of Biology-funded citizen-science
project, running from October 2026 to May 2027. Participants make simple
monthly observations, connecting everyday experiences with the physiology
of our internal body clocks.
